After Surgery Care

Medical Discharge

When your doctor confirms that you are stable, you will be able to go home. Do not worry if you experience some sleepiness or dizziness between 12 and 24 hours after surgery; it is a normal reaction. For your safety, avoid driving, using any type of machinery, or signing legal documents during that period.

Postoperative Care

At the end of your surgery, we will provide you with verbal and written instructions on how to take care of yourself at home. It is imperative that you follow all the directions. Before your discharge, your companion or responsible adult must review and sign these instructions together with the staff. A family member, friend, or caregiver should stay with you during the following 24 hours. If you begin to feel anything unusual, do not hesitate to call your surgeon or go to the nearest emergency room. A nurse from our center will contact you the next business day to make sure your recovery is progressing correctly.

Transportation

For your safety, do not drive or use public transportation or services such as Uber or Lyft after the procedure. We recommend that you arrange for a family member, friend, or responsible companion who can take you home.

Postoperative Care and Pain Relief

Pain control is essential for your well-being and peace of mind. That is why our team will be with you at all times, from your arrival at the center until the follow-up call you will receive at home. We will explain each step and ask you to evaluate your pain level using the Visual Analog Pain Scale or, in the case of children, the Faces Pain Scale. This information will help us adjust the treatment and ensure that your recovery is as comfortable as possible.

We are committed to managing your pain responsibly and effectively. To achieve this, we may use different combinations of methods: oral or intravenous medications, nerve blocks, or local anesthesia applied during surgery. Before the procedure, both your anesthesiologist and your surgeon will talk with you about the best alternatives. If you have fears or doubts, make them known. Understanding how your pain will be controlled will allow you to feel calmer and experience a smoother, more comfortable recovery.

Recovery and Reminders

After your surgery, you will receive clear instructions—both verbal and written—so that your recovery at home will be safe and without complications. We ask that you follow all directions carefully. Before leaving, your companion or responsible adult must review and sign the instructions together with the staff. You will also be provided with a contact number in case you have questions or need additional guidance. If you experience anything unusual, do not hesitate to call your surgeon or go to the nearest emergency room. A nurse from our center will contact you the next business day to check on your recovery and offer support if you need it.
